What's new in Overload Reactor
Overload Reactor updates itself: open the game and you're on the latest version, even if you installed it to your home screen. Here's what changed, newest first.
Version 0.47: charge rings
29 September 2026
- Cells show their charge as a ring around the outside again, as they did before 0.45. The ring fills clockwise as a cell charges, and a full ring means MAX. Notches on the ring mark each level, and the core grows and brightens as it levels up.
- MAX cells tremble inside a white-hot ring. Critical cells crack, and their ring becomes the countdown to catch the blast.
- On desktops and phones on their side, settings and pause move to the top-right under the core load, as they are on a phone held upright, and your combo sits right under your score.
Version 0.46: round cells
29 September 2026
- Cells are round again: glass orbs that fill with charge. Special cells keep their own shapes.
- A tidier desktop and landscape layout. The core load sits in a card beside the grid that matches the score, alerts appear right under it, and tips and training share the corner opposite Stabilize. Stabilize is bigger on desktop, and the grid's column letters no longer clip on shorter screens.
Version 0.45: the Operator update
September 2026
Something to chase
- Deep Core, a new mode you can win: five depths, a Core Anomaly at the end of each, power quotas, and a draft of 30 protocols with rarities and synergies. Unlocks at Engineer.
- The Operator Track: 60 tiers of rewards on the XP you already earn from every run, mission and award. Seven colour themes (three of them new: Solar, Void and Prism), seven operator titles, Isotopes, Core Caches and Coolant Reserves. Themes you had already unlocked stay yours.
- A weekly quest that adds up across all your runs, with 300 XP and a Core Cache at the end.
- Awards in bronze, silver and gold, each tier paying XP.
- Coolant Reserves cover a missed day, so one busy day doesn't end your Daily streak.
- The Rig grows to ten parts, each a trade-off you can switch on for Classic.
A new look
- Cells are glass that fills with glowing liquid as they charge, and every cell type has its own shape.
- Cells at MAX tremble; critical cells crack and show a countdown ring. When the board fills up, calm cells fade back so the dangerous ones stand out.
- Catches slow time for a beat, long links punch the camera in, clearing the board plays ALL CLEAR, and a meltdown collapses before it blows.
- Music builds a layer with every sector, vent pops play in key, and a heartbeat thumps when the core runs hot.
Easier to learn, easier to read
- Training teaches the link swipe hands-on.
- Phones on their side get a proper layout with the controls beside a full-height grid, and desktops get rails beside a bigger board.
- After a meltdown, Watch the last 6 seconds replays how it happened at half speed.
- Results show where your score came from, and rank-ups and unlocks get their own moment.
- The Daily results lead with SHARE, and the share text shows how far you got without spoiling the board.
- Challenge links carry your name, and the result is a head-to-head card with SEND IT BACK.
Balance
- Runs start with six cells instead of three and new cells arrive sooner, so there's something to do from the first second. The first reactor burst moves to 2:40, so it no longer lands on top of Core Annex.
- Old challenge links still work, and say so if the board has changed since they were made.
Version 0.44: launch
27 September 2026
- Overload Reactor launched at overloadreactor.com, with the how to play guide, the Daily and Weekly challenges, challenge links and an offline-ready install.
